Great Day, Great Fun: Berkeley College 8th Annual Charity Car Show

I would like to thank everyone who was able to come out and join us this past Sunday for Berkeley College's 8th Annual Charity Car show! The turnout was amazing and everyone had a great time coming together to help raise money for a very important cause.

I spent the whole day at the event and took a ton of photos which I wanted to post for everyone to see. I made it into a little slide show so it's a little more interactive and entertaining for all my followers! Please have a look for yourself below:

See, now don't you feel like you were there yourself? Ok, not quite, but you can get the feel for the day. There were a lot of cool cars as you can see and we had a few people really dress their cars up in the spirit of Halloween! This was my 3rd year attending the car show, and again, all records were broken this year, which is great news. Berkeley College works on making their events bigger and better than previous years and it wouldn't be possible without the support of the students and staff, so we all thank you so much!

I am happy to share with you that this event helped raised over $26,000 towards a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. That is great news! I will try to obtain a final count as to how many cars ended up entering into the show, but we are looking to continue breaking these records year after year!

Make sure if you weren't able to join us this year, that you clear your schedule now and come out for the day! You will get to contribute to a great cause and have a ton of fun with your friends and family...how can it get any better than that?

On another note, I wanted to make quick mention of a project I am going to be helping out with over the next few weeks. The project was created by Berkeley Cares and is called "Cards for the troops." We'd like to get as many people involved as possible! Once I have some more information, I will be posting all about it, but please if you have interest in joining us to send troops holiday cards this holiday season, please email myself at lyndsay.wright@Yahoo.com or feel free to email: nll@berkeleycollege.edu letting us know you'd be interested in helping us out!

Why not brighten up the troops holiday season when they have to be away from their families? It's a great project and I am happy to say I will be a part of it! I'll keep you posted as the information becomes available to me, but please keep it in mind!

I hope everyone is having a great and successful quarter! It's hard to believe October is already coming to an end! Where is the time going.....?

Let Your Voice Be Heard...

We are all aware that Election Day is right around the corner, but have you given it much thought? We hear all these crazy stories on the news, on the radio, online, and we sit and wonder, how did we become involved in such a political mess? As young adults, we may not express much interest in the debate because we feel we have many other things to deal with, but this is our future. As college students, or even alumni like myself, we have to worry about our careers and our job status in 5 years from now, 10 years from now, basically for the rest of our lives. We see constant struggles in the economy, health care, and job opportunity, that if we don’t speak up now, what will the future hold for the children we raise one day?

Our voices deserve to be heard this Election. I can’t tell you have many times I’ve heard “It doesn’t matter if I vote or not, one little vote won’t affect the election.” Now, for the person saying that, they may think they are the only one who doesn’t go out in vote, but there are millions of people saying the SAME exact thing, that it does make a very substantial impact. Like I said, as we get older, we have a lot more to worry about. This is our generation, our future, our children’s future.

Berkeley College is a proud supporter of its student going out and letting their voices be heard. Check out this brief video which highlights some of our student’s thoughts on this upcoming election. You will see that they want our voices to be heard, as it will help us in making the best decision for our future and for our careers!

So will you let your voice be heard in this upcoming election?

Vote 2012...We can all make a difference together!

Where Will You Be On October 21st?

I can tell you a GREAT place to be, if you haven't already made some spectacular plan (which in my opinion, you could cancel it for this fun-filled event instead)!

Why not come on down to the Berkeley College Paramus campus for our 8th Annual Charity Car Show & Family Fun Day! This will be my 3rd year attending this event and it gets bigger & bigger every year! Bring your friends, your family, and wear your Halloween best because from 8AM to 2PM, the fun will just not stop!

The great thing about this event, is that all proceeds will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation (esiason.org) and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org) to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. There will be a variety of things to do, see, eat and drink throughout the day, while you support a worthy charity.

Are you sold on joining us yet or should I go on? Ah, what the heck, let me go on!

Here is what else we have in store for you:

- Antique and Exotic Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles
- Live bands and DJ
- Blood Drive
- Kids' Activities
- Halloween Costume Contests: awards will be given to the best costume and the best vehicle costume (Like I said, wear your Halloween best!!)
- There will be a variety of specialized vehicles on display too!

Car enthusiasts are invited to register their vehicles for display.

Registration is $20. Only vehicles registered by October 15 will receive a participant trophy. Donations will also be accepted.

General admission for spectators is a $2 donation, children under five enter free. (Again, these proceeds get donated to a VERY special charity!)

Anyone interested in helping out the day of the event is encouraged to contact the Paramus Admissions Department @ 201-967-9667:

Need the address, well, I'll hook you up with that!

Berkeley College Paramus NJ Campus
64 East Midland Ave, Paramus, NJ

If I haven't sold you on joining us, then this is the exact reason I'm not in sales! But anywho, I urge all of you to come out, whether it be for an hour or so, just to make a contribution to these great charities! There's so much to do and so much to see! In the event you can't make the event, I'll be around snapping photos, so I'll be happy to share those after the event!

I hope everyone is having a great quarter thus far and I hope to see you at the car show!
