Let Me Introduce Myself

Hello Everyone! You’re probably wondering who I am and some things about me, so let me give you a brief introduction! My name is Lyndsay Wright. I am currently 18 years old with a birthday coming up on March 14th, and I am from West Milford, New Jersey. When people ask or hear where I am from, they immediately give me this confused expression and say, “Where the heck is West Milford?” Then, I proceed to tell them it is near Clinton Road, which is a popular topic on WeirdNj.com, and then I get asked multiple questions, so I’ll leave it at that! I currently attend classes on the Garret Mountain campus, and also I am enrolled in a few online courses. I have created a schedule that accommodates my life, so that I am on campus twice a week, and can work the other days and complete my online assignments. I have decided to major in Marketing because I love the creativity aspect of the career and hope to work more with the advertising field of marketing! I currently work at State Farm Insurance as an office assistant. I really enjoy working there and it definitely helps out with my college expenses. I have an older brother who will be graduating from Penn State University in May, so that will be something to look forward to. I currently live at home with my parents and two rambunctious beagles, Boomer and Shiloh. They are definitely a handful and LOVE to bark! Surprise, Surprise! In my free time, I enjoy going out with my closest friends, listening to music, going shopping, writing poetry, and just making the best of everything that comes my way. I also have a favorite quote which is Live, Love, Laugh! This is my first blogging experience, so I am really looking forward to this opportunity and I hope everyone else enjoys following along as well.

This is my second quarter at Berkeley and I have really enjoyed myself. I still can’t believe that high school came and went, but I am definitely enjoying this new beginning. My first quarter was a bunch of getting use to the change and making a whole new set of friends, although some people I graduated with also attend Berkeley, so that was good. I was surprised how quickly the first quarter went by and even now with a few weeks left in quarter two, it baffles me how quickly this went as well.

As far as the online campus experience goes, I was a little skeptical about it, but came to find that it wasn’t as scary as imagined. I would suggest online courses to those who work and have trouble attending classes on campus, or those who maybe work during the day and have their nights free. There are so many options at Berkeley regarding courses, so it’s in one’s best interest to explore what is available. ** If anyone is interested in online courses, I would suggest that you visit with advisement and speak to them about the online classes. They will give you to a packet known as A Road to Success that will need to be completed and passed by a specific date in order to be eligible for online courses. Once the course is completed and passed, you will be eligible for online courses for the rest of your time spent at Berkeley, so it is definitely not a hassle to do!** I will look into gathering more information from advisement if anyone is interested, or you can stop by and check it out for yourself.

Last quarter I was trying to settle myself and focus on devising a plan to help me succeed. This quarter I began interacting a bit with Amy Young in Student Development and I am currently working on getting myself involved. By involving myself in activities, I will get a feel for what the college does and interact with a diverse group of students. There are plenty of opportunities at Berkeley and it’s a beneficial experience to get yourself involved. I also looked into the online clubs as well, which I think is a fantastic idea. This allows students who are fully completing their degree online to become involved and not just limit it to those who attend classes on campus.

I will keep everyone up to speed about things on campus and what I have been doing with both the online and campus events as well. I am going to go catch up on some work and eat dinner and of course watch the American Idol results show!! Thanks for reading!
